Weekly campaigns
A new set of pieces, every week.
Campaigns give a stretch of the week a theme and a set of levels to work through.
A rhythm game built on real music notation. Play a piano solo, a string duet or a full quartet, then open the editor and compose levels of your own.
How it plays
There is no invented shape language to learn. Levels are written in notation, and each voice in the music gets a touch zone of its own.
Every voice in a piece has its own coloured touch zone. A solo has one; a quartet has four, each in its own colour so you always know whose line you are playing.
A zone signals that its moment is coming, sweeping around its edge in time with the music, and then lights fully when it is your turn. You are cued by the tempo itself.
Up to four fingers can be down at the same time, which is what playing more than one voice actually asks of you.
The backdrop breathes with the piece. It opens out at forte, draws in at piano, follows the tempo and carries a faint trace of whichever voice sounded last.
Try it: press and hold
On a touchscreen, press several zones at once. On a keyboard, focus a zone and press Space.
Ensembles
Levels are written for solo instruments, for duets and for quartets. Choose a size to see how many voices you would be playing.
One instrument, one line, all of your attention.
A level can also carry an accompaniment: music that plays underneath your voices without asking anything of you.
And more. Solo instruments, duets and quartets all draw from the same instrument family.
Always something to play
Contrapunctus is account-based, so your progress and your library follow you. Around the core levels sits a rhythm of things to play.

A fresh challenge every day: a short reason to open the app and play.
A season to progress through.
A season pass gives your play across a season a track of its own to advance along.
A store full of made levels.
Players publish levels they have made in the editor. Browse the user store, search it and play what others have written.
Create
The editor works in notation, the same language the levels are played in. What you write is saved as a .jj level file you can keep, share and publish.
Place notes on the staff for each voice you want in your level.
Your level is a single .jj file that belongs to you.
Put it in the user store and other players can find it and play it.
Community
Every level in the store has an author. Find the creators and composers you like and keep up with what they publish.
Browse and search levels made by other players, and put your own in the store.
Follow the people whose levels you enjoy, so their new work is easy to find.
Follow composers too, and play their music the way it was written.
